Spring Gardening Plans Put On Hold.

Living in the Northwest always seems to bring Surprises.

My  spring gardening plans certainly will get put on hold for awhile longer after today's surprise. I f you live where I do, the weather can change as quickly as the blink of the eye. Here is what I woke up to today and as speak it is still coming down like crazy. So I guess it back to winter, snow shovels and snow blower for this day.

More Time To Plan

I will have a little more time to plan my new gardens. I have a lot of perennials to move from another location and was just about ready to do so when Ole Man Winter stepped into the scheme of things. I had noticed because of the unusual warm weather we had been having that some of my winter pansies had actually started blooming. That is a little unusual for here, the time of the year, is not quite proper for that, However we may see some frost damage from this little weather storm.

Snow and Frost Today

I believe the forecast will push back my spring gardening for a few more weeks, after all it is still winter, and on this day, Valentines Day,  last year we had 2 ft. of snow on the ground yet, and was not even thinking of my gardening or even planting spring flowers.  Thinking of that... do not forget the flowers for that special person today.

On a Personal Note

This day a year ago we moved to where we are now, fought through the snow moving in January and spent our first night here, more or less camped out. We had to move a lot of over growth just to get up the driveway and now looking forward to getting to plant. Actually was over zealous that spring was coming early, but now is guess I will put the tools back in the garage for another day. I can just hold on to my ideas for a little longer.

Gramps Snow
I always seem to get a little over anxious when spring is around the corner, The weather this year just gave me a little teasing, then winter reappeared. But I will be ready when the weather breaks again. Look forward to sharing again, and do not forget to comment on this blog or at http://grampsmarketplace.com and let me know how I can answer your questions or you like what I have to say.

Welcome to Gramps Marketplace

Welcome to my Blog

Today I thought  I would reach out to those who will  enjoy this blog but also my website as well called https://Grampsmarketplace.com. This blog will compliment my website, but with a more personal aspect to my gardening, my love for flowers, some of my personal photos of my flowers through out the season.

My love for photography,

I will get to show off my love for flowers as well. The cover for this blog, I shot a couple of seasons ago.

The weather in the Pacific Northwest

This winter has been a little unusual. We had some snow, lots in the mountains, and lessor where I live. Some freezing rain which is not really normal. High amounts of rain, and above to record warm temperatures in this month so far. Yet now we are heading back into real cold temperatures and snow of some amounts to be handed to us this night. I thought we were all done with winter since we have been brown here for over a month.

Confusion, Mother Nature Does Not Like.

Well, I am confused too but... All of the plants and bushes are as well. The bulb plants, perennials, and bushes, and trees are all thinking it is March or April...It is not. They are bushing buds out, creping up through the ground, I even had some winter pansies blooming 2 weeks ago. I am not surprised, but this is not looking good for some of the plants and trees.

If winter has its way,

and it is winter yet, this is going to create havoc with those early bloomers who have poked their noses out to soon. It is absolutely no good for my fruit trees. When it gets down to 5 degrees here, I even shiver a bit, but they can not handle it, and I will not be seeing much fruit if any.

Though the snow coming will not stay long, it will send those new arrivals into shock, sending another message to them, thinking they missed spring altogether, and winter is here. Amazing that it totally confuses them. Well I guess we will just have to see how everything turns out.

Love to Hear from You!

I know my visitors live all over the country and would like to touch basis with as many as possible, so leave a comment as to what your needs regarding gardening flowers, or what favorite tool you have found useful. Also do not forget...Valentines Day is tomorrow.
